Huddersfield Town Under-17s defender Michael Parker is grateful for the encouragement he’s received since joining Town’s Academy.
Michael joined Town from grassroots football as part of the Club’s summer intake ahead of 2021/22 season.
Since his arrival the youngster has found himself able to settle in quickly thanks to the support of the Academy’s staff.
“I’ve found Huddersfield really good so far.
“We’re definitely different compared to different clubs in terms of how we play, but with the support that George and the rest of the staff have given us, it’s been easy to settle in.”
The 16-year-old has captained his new teammates throughout pre-season, and admits that being given the responsibility is something he relishes.
“My teammates are very good, it’s a very high standard.
“Being able to captain them definitely me a confidence boost.
“It shows me that George and the rest of the staff have faith in me, and that gives me another reason to keep on playing well.”
Despite having only been here a month, the defender says he’s already seen improvements in his game.
“I’ve learnt a lot of tactical things already.
“Physically, I feel like I’m better.
“I’ve always been a tall and strong player, but here they’ve been encouraging me to use my strength more.
“I wasn’t in an Academy before, so the amount of information that’s been given to me has been really useful and now I’m trying to apply it in our games.”
The Under-17s 2021/22 season gets underway on Saturday (7 August 2021) when they travel to take on Rotherham United. Michael admits he can’t wait to get the season started.
“I’m 100% ready to get going!
“In pre-season we didn’t get many wins, but we’ve definitely been improving.
“Hopefully we’ll get a win.”
