Youngster discusses joining Huddersfield Town

Huddersfield Town Under-17s midfielder Cian Philpott is impressed with the improvements he’s seen in his came since joining Town’s Academy.
Cian joined Huddersfield Town from Manchester City as part of the Academy’s summer cohort ahead of the 2021/22 season.
The 16-year-old played some games with George Danaher’s side at the end of last season, and commented on how well he’s settled in.
“Huddersfield is very welcoming.
“I came in before the end of last season and everyone’s just very welcoming – all the players and staff.
“It helps that I know Dylan Helliwell, coming in with him at the end of the season definitely made it easier.
“I get on well with all of my teammates, I was surprised we got on well so quickly!
“It’s a real family environment.
I’ve settled in well.”
The youngster has focused on paying in the midfield since his arrival, and is impressed with the improvements he’s already seeing in his game.
“Being in midfield I’m more involved in the aggressive side of the game.
“I’ve had to improve at getting into people and my tackling.
“I think I’ve improved at getting the ball off people as well.
The midfielder had the opportunity to play in two Cup games with the Under-19s last week, an opportunity he wants to have more of.
“It’s good to be with the older age group and be chosen to play up.
“I scored in one of them as well!
“It’s a really good experience, plus it’s always good to get a goal in early.
Philpott also took the time to discuss what he’d like to achieve in his first season with the Club.
“Hopefully I’ll get to play with the older age groups as much as I can and just perform well for whichever team I’m playing with.”
