- B Team through to Group G of Premier League Cup
- Goals from Ben Jackson (x2), Danel Sinani, Kian Harratt

Huddersfield Town’s B Team progressed to the group stages of the Premier League Cup with a 4-3 win over Oxford United.

The result will see the Young Terriers face Watford, Newcastle United and Birmingham City in Group G.

Three first half goals saw Town well on their way to sealing the win, and although Oxford fought hard in the second half to lessen the goal deficit, Jon Worthington’s side did enough to keep them at bay.

The Terriers got off to a great start, breaking the deadlock in the seventh minute. Ben Jackson, wearing the Captain’s armband, made no mistake in drilling the ball into the bottom right corner.

It wasn’t long before Town doubled their lead, thanks to Danel Sinani! Playing his first full 45 minutes since signing for the Club, he unleashed an incredible ball into the top right corner!

Oxford responded well to Sinani’s goal, with some excellent play from Joel Cooper bringing the hosts back into the game in the 18th minute.

Town took back possession for a period, with both Brahima and Diarra trying their luck at goal. Unfortunately Diarra saw his shot go way off target, and Oxford were able to defend Jackson’s shot well.

The four goal of the game came from Town, with Kian Harratt treating the fans to an excellent goal. He shifted the ball onto his left and drove the ball into the net with absolutely no hesitation!

As the minutes counted down to the half time whistle, Sinani tried his luck again. Unfortunately, James Golding put in a solid shift to deny the Town midfielder.

Town came out of the blocks fastest again in the second half, with Jackson bagging his brace! An excellent free kick saw his ball bounce off the post and straight into the net.

The Young Terriers continued to pile on the pressure, with both Nassim Kherbouche and Jaheim Headley attempting to add a fifth.

Oxford finally found a foothold into the game, seeing Cooper bag his brace following a free kick for the hosts.

This was followed by a chance just seconds later, but thankfully Josh Johnson slashed his shot wide.

The hosts sliced the deficit even more in the 82nd minute, as Johnson redeemed himself for the hosts.

The final stages of the game saw Town respond well and pile on the pressure in their attempts to find a fifth. Diarra came agonisingly close after leaping highest to reach Ben Midgley’s ball, but saw it headed just over!

Harratt was next to try his turn at securing a brace, but saw his shot go inches wide.

The final chance of the game fell to Jackson. Moments after receiving treatment for a nasty tackle, he broke towards the goal and send his ball just wide!

The final whistle saw Town leave the ASM Stadium victorious, and secure their place in Group G of the Premier League Cup.
