Huddersfield Town Head Coach Carlos Corberán was pleased with his team’s reaction to their previous result as the Terriers beat Preston North End 1-0 in the Sky Bet Championship.

A second-half own goal from Sepp van den Berg was enough to ease the Terriers past their Lancashire-based opponents at the John Smith’s Stadium.

Given the nature of Saturday’s defeat to Fulham, Corberán acknowledged a desire to perform in his players.

“We wanted to react today, after a defeat like the one against Fulham it was really important to compete.

“I think the nature of that loss increased the player’s competitive levels in key moments.

“Sometimes when you have a defeat like that it can effect the security of the players or it can increase the competitive level of the team – we enjoyed the latter.”

The Head Coach also discussed his substitutions and how they impacted the game.

“Danny Ward asked for the change because he didn’t feel well.

“All the substitutions we were forced, with Lewis O’Brien and Tom Lees unable to complete the 90 minutes, which we knew beforehand.

“It’s necessary that any player coming on from the substitutes' bench helps the team and I think they all did that today.”
