Huddersfield Town B defender Mustapha Olagunju has signed a new long-term contract with the Club!

The 19-year-old has agreed a new deal that will run until the summer of 2024.

Most at home as a central defender, Mustapha made his Huddersfield Town debut earlier this season, starting in the Emirates FA Cup Third Round match against Plymouth Argyle.

Mustapha is currently on his third loan move away from Canalside, after joining Sky Bet League 2 side Port Vale in January, as he continues to adapt and gain different experiences in senior men’s football.

He defender has also had short spells with Tadcaster Albion last year before making seven appearances for Vanarama National League South side Welling United earlier this season.

Before joining the Terriers, the youngster, who was born in Plumstead, has previously played for XYZ Academy and Kent Football United.

Huddersfield Town’s Academy Manager, Emyr Humphreys, commented:

“Since signing his first professional contract with the Club in August 2019, Mustapha has continued to impress and has taken further steps forward in his development.

“It’s his determination and attitude to succeed and work hard that’s been most impressive and that’s allowed him to reach new heights this season.

“His current loan spell at Port Vale will have aided his development both on and off the pitch and we’re all excited to keep working with him and to see how far he can go.”
