Carlos Corberán discusses Town’s latest team news

- Carlos Corberán issues team update ahead of Blackburn
- Pipa and Harry Toffolo could be available
- Fraizer Campbell and Isaac Mbenza will miss out

Carlos Corberán gave an update on his squad ahead of Huddersfield Town’s Sky Bet Championship match against Blackburn Rovers.

The Terriers travel to Ewood Park on Saturday (24 April 2021) hoping to hit 50 points and move a step closer to Championship survival.

Two key players for Town this season have been their full-backs. Harry Toffolo has just come back from a long-term back injury, whilst Pipa is managing a groin issue.

Town’s Head Coach explained that they both could make the squad, despite not being selected against Barnsley midweek.

“We hope that they will be available. They will train today and if they train well then both players should be available.

“It’d very important for the team to have the maximum number of available players, especially as right backs and left back. The greater number of higher-level players we have, the better for us.”

Josh Koroma returned to action for Town on Wednesday against Barnsley after recovering from a hamstring problem. Carlos gave the latest update on him.

“We are going to wait to see after training today about Josh Koroma.

“I was watching him in the first minutes against Barnsley. In the second half he had less impact because you could see he had a long time without the habit of playing a game.

“I think about his injury and he worked a lot from a physical point of view, so he shouldn’t have any kind of problem with his recovery.

“Of course, the physical level would be hard for him to play in a row as he doesn’t have the habit, but the faster he adapts to this, the better for him too.”

Carel Eiting is another man who returned midweek against Barnsley, coming on for the final 15 minutes.

“We need to see how Carel’s knee reacts,” said Carlos.

“Yesterday he did recovery, today we need to do more on the pitch. Depending on how he reacts we will make the decision.

“He’s one player that could be in the squad and if he’s fine then he could be a starting player too.”
There will be two players unavailable for the trip to Ewood Park as they continue to nurse their problems.

“With Fraizer Campbell it’ll be impossible for him to play against Blackburn.

“Isaac was working the other day with the medical staff because he’s receiving treatment. He won’t be available for the next game.”

Finally, Álex' Vallejo will be unavailable for Blackburn, but could return next week!

“After he saw the specialist, we received confirmation that he could return to normal training two days before Coventry,” said Town’s Head Coach.

“He'll be available then, if everything goes well. He's doing part of the training now, but he still cannot have any type of head contact with the ball. The idea is he returns to training two full days before Coventry.”
