Huddersfield Town midfielder Duane Holmes is eagerly counting down to the Terriers’ return from the international break with Brentford first up on Saturday afternoon.

The West London side are the visitors to the John Smith’s Stadium for a 12.30pm BST kick-off in the Sky Bet Championship.

When the game does get underway on Saturday, it will have been 17 days on from Town’s last outing at Sheffield Wednesday before the break. Duane says the Terriers are looking forward to being back in action this weekend.

“We are itching to get back on the pitch,” the midfielder said during Thursday afternoon’s pre-match press conference.

“We were picking up form before the break, but like everyone else we needed the break.

“The Head Coach here likes to work very hard, so we’ve been doing some good work and we’re ready to be back on the pitch.”

Speaking in that press conference, Duane gave his thoughts on Saturday’s opponents who currently occupy a play-off spot in the Sky Bet Championship and will be eyeing up achieving promotion to the Premier League over the coming weeks.

“They're a good team and we're sure they're going to try and get on top of us,” he explained.

“They’re a good team playing good football. We have a plan and we'll put it to work and do our best in trying to win the game.”

With the visit of Brentford the first of Town’s final nine Sky Bet Championship fixtures this season, the midfielder also outlined the squad’s intentions going into the final period of the campaign.

“We're playing against good teams but we're a good team ourselves, we've shown that with some of our results this season.

“We want nothing more than to keep the club in the Championship, get the fans back next season and hopefully put on a show for them.”
