Huddersfield Town Head Coach Carlos Corberán says that left-back Harry Toffolo has been back in training and will be fit to face Nottingham Forest on Friday evening.
Town’s no.3 was forced off in the first half of last weekend’s game against Brentford, but Carlos gave a positive update on the defender’s fitness during his virtual press conference on Thursday afternoon.
Like Toffolo, Captain Christopher Schindler was also withdrawn before the interval during the game in the capital but is unlikely to feature tomorrow according to Town’s Head Coach.
Carlos addressed the fitness of both players ahead of Friday’s game.
“Both don’t have any important injuries. Toffolo is going to be ready for tomorrow, he trained today so he’s ready to be a member of the squad.
“Schindler will have more problems to arrive for tomorrow because he has a problem in the hamstring.
“The most important thing is that it’s not going to be an important injury. If he doesn’t play tomorrow, he will be ready to help the team in the next week.”
Town’s Head Coach was also asked about new signings Carel Eitling and Naby Sarr who are both working towards making their debuts for the Terriers, having signed for the Club in recent weeks.
Carlos spoke about the chances of the pair featuring for the first time on Friday evening.
“With Carel, he could complete the week of training and he will be available for the squad.
“For Sarr, he was in isolation, he couldn’t prepare properly for the game, but he completed the last two training sessions with the group.
“We have to make the decision if we want to take the risk to put him in the squad knowing he’s not properly ready yet or to allow him to continue working with the team for longer before we put him in the squad.”
Another player that could be in contention to feature on Friday night is Fraizer Campbell after the forward returned to action last weekend.
Fraizer came off the bench to play the final half-hour against Brentford and Carlos says the forward could build on those minutes against Forest.
“I think with Campbell, he was a player we couldn’t work with when we arrived because he had some problems from the previous year. Now, he’s completed a few weeks with us.
“In the previous week, we had the chance and the advice to play with him for 30-35 minutes. After this week, we have the advice he can complete more minutes. He’s going to be an option to involve in the game.”
Three players that won’t be available for Friday night’s visit of Nottingham Forest are Danny Ward, Lewis O’Brien and Rarmani Edmonds-Green.
The trio remain sidelined according to Carlos, who was asked about what stage each are at in their respective recovery processes.
“Unfortunately, we aren’t going to have Danny Ward for the next game and maybe not the one after that either. His injury needs the proper time to recover.
“(Lewis) is in the last part of the injury. He hasn’t been able to train with the group yet, but I think the fact that he’s in the last part of the injury is something positive with our squad.
“With Edmonds-Green, it’s a special situation. Unfortunately, he had an injury in the first week we were here, and he was out for three weeks.
“After he came back to training, he played a game for the B Team against Liverpool and he started to feel the same problem he did before.
“The decision from the medical staff was that he needs four or five weeks to adapt his body to football’s demands and hopefully when he recovers, we won’t lose him again for the same type of injury.”
