Huddersfield Town Head Coach Carlos Corberán says new signing Pipa will be in the squad for the Terriers’ Sky Bet Championship opener against Norwich City on Saturday.

The Spanish Under-21 international completed his move from Espanyol on Monday and will be in contention to make his debut in the league opener against the Canaries at the weekend.

Speaking to the media via his virtual press conference on Friday afternoon, Town’s Head Coach gave his thoughts on his newest recruit’s first few days at the Club.

“Pipa is a player that has only been able to work with the team for three days before this game so he hasn’t yet been able to get the habits or the relationship with his teammates to the level he will have soon,” he said.

“But at the same time, Pipa is a clever player and I don’t think he’s a player that will need a lot of time to improve his relationship with the players and to start to feel comfortable to play with his teammates.

“He’s a player that has done all pre-season with Espanyol and played in the last international game with Spain so he’s going to be in the squad.”

Along with the availability of Pipa, Carlos is hoping to have several members of his squad back from respective injuries for the league opener on Saturday.

He provided an update on his squad ahead of his first league game in charge of the Terriers.

“I think we are going to have a similar group of players to the one we had for the last game.

“We are going to add players like Matty Daly and (Rarmani) Edmonds-Green, who have come back from injuries and have been working with the team this week.

“I hope tomorrow we will have the full squad ready to face the game.”

Another player that Carlos is hoping to have available for Saturday’s Sky Bet Championship kick-off at the John Smith’s Stadium is Fraizer Campbell.

The forward hasn’t featured for Town since the Terriers’ last home league game against West Bromwich Albion towards the back end of the previous campaign and has only just been able to get back on the training pitch this week.

“Fraizer Campbell is another player that we added to the squad this week.

“He has started to work with the team in the last three days. The last game he played was against West Brom last season and he’s been working with the physios since.

“He’s another option that we are going to add to the squad.”
