Huddersfield Town Head Coach Carlos Corberán reflected on a disappointing afternoon in the capital following the Terriers’ 3-0 defeat to Brentford.

Town matched last season’s beaten play-off finalists for much of the game but the Bees’ three second half goals proved to be the difference at the Brentford Community Stadium.

Speaking to #HTTV post-match, Carlos reviewed Town’s performance.

“We played a first half in which we balanced the game. They started the first minutes better than us, but we reacted fast to the behaviours that they tried to do.

“The team started to feel more comfortable on the pitch. They had some chances in the first half, but we had some chances in the first half too and I think we started to control the game.

“In the second half, we started to break their press, put more balls in the offensive half, the team didn’t create a chance but I think they scored the goal when we were controlling the game.

“After this, we tried to change the dynamic of the game, but they made a difference in the result and it’s one for me that they deserve.”

After Josh Dasilva’s 57th minute opener, the Terriers attempted to get level before two further Brentford goals in the final five minutes sealed all three points.

Town’s Head Coach acknowledged the difficulty of division and says his side has to stay focused for the full 90 minutes in order to avoid similar situations in the future.

“In the Championship, whether you’re winning, drawing or losing, every minute that you start to decrease your intensity, you’re going to suffer challenges because the quality of the Championship is very high.”

In his post-match interview at the Brentford Community Stadium, Carlos also addressed the injuries to Captain Christopher Schindler and Harry Toffolo who were both forced off before the half.

The Spaniard was disappointed to have to take off two of his back four in the first half but insists Town have to be ready to adapt to these types of situations.

“Unfortunately, we lost Toffolo that is an important option for us, and Schindler felt something in the hamstring, so we had to make the change too.

“You can never manage the game in the same way when you are suffering injuries, but we need to be ready to adapt and to have players to cover this.

“We have to face these difficulties. We’re never going to be looking for the problem, we’re always going to be looking for the solution.”
