ACADEMY ADDS PAIR OF FIXTURES THIS WEEK

13 September 2020

Clarets Cup action as well as home friendly

- Huddersfield Town Academy adds a pair of fixtures
- Last season’s ‘Clarets Cup’ semi-final played on Tuesday
- Under-17s to play a friendly against a Guiseley side

The Huddersfield Town Academy has added a couple of fixtures to its schedule for the coming week.

On Tuesday, last year’s Under-17 group will play its rearranged Clarets Cup semi-final fixture against Blackburn Rovers at Canalside in an 11am kick-off.

The Clarets Cup is a competition created by Burnley FC to ensure Under-17 players, who are typically first year scholars, get games under their belt.

Town use the fixture to challenge the Young Terriers to get results against their age peers by putting everything together than they have learned in training.

Having qualified from the group stage last season, the original semi-final date was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Now Jon Worthington will lead the same players from last season against Rovers at Canalside.

Meanwhile, this year’s new Under-17 group will host a side from Guiseley at Canalside in a friendly fixture on Wednesday, 1pm kick-off.

Both games will be played behind-closed-doors, but you can follow all the latest news on the Academy’s Twitter account - @htafcacademy.
