Huddersfield Town is proud to be supporting The Royal British Legion’s Poppy Appeal in 2020.

As we mark 75 years since Victory in Europe and Victory over Japan, The Royal British Legion is celebrating the contribution of our Armed Forces who came together to defend our way of life then, but also those who continue to do so today.

This year we honour the unique service and sacrifice of all who fought during the Second World War, and that of today’s Armed Forces, who have stood alongside essential workers on the front line of the fight against Covid-19.

As a show of their support, several Sky Bet Championship, League 1 and League 2 Clubs will once again wear special-edition shirts embroidered with a poppy in matches played in the lead-up to this year’s Remembrance weekend. The match-worn shirts will then be signed and made available to purchase in an auction after the game, with all proceeds going to the Legion.

Huddersfield Town will continue to show their support for The Royal British Legion and the Armed Forces community. All players will wear shirts bearing the poppy in the upcoming games at Millwall and at home to Luton Town, which will be personally signed and available to bid on straight from kick-off at www.matchwornshirt.co.uk/poppy.

The Legion’s work is more vital than ever this year as the charity supports communities through additional hardships, from those struggling with social isolation, financial difficulties and unemployment, to those who have lost loved ones or are facing the threat of homelessness.

Claire Rowcliffe, Director of Fundraising at The Royal British Legion said: “The Covid-19 pandemic has had an overwhelming impact on people’s livelihoods and way of life, leaving some in the Armed Forces community in dire need of urgent help and support.

“We are extremely grateful for the support the EFL clubs and the football community show the Poppy Appeal every year. The Legion’s work is entirely dependent on the public’s generous support, and this year we need that support more than ever, so we can ensure that those who have served and sacrificed on our behalf are looked after. Every poppy counts.”

Although you won’t be able to buy a poppy at your stadium this season, you can still donate to the Poppy Appeal at www.rbl.org.uk/poppyappeal or show your support with one of our club-branded pin badges available at https://www.poppyshop.org.uk/collections/football-pins.
