Huddersfield Town B midfielder Josh Austerfield has signed a new long-term contract with the Club!

The Academy graduate, who turns 19 early next month, has agreed a new deal that will run until the summer of 2024, adding another three years to his previous contract.

Most at home as a deeper central midfield player, Josh made his senior Town debut early this season, coming on as a substitute in the Carabao Cup game against Rochdale at the John Smith’s Stadium in September.

He has been on the periphery of the First Team squad for an extended period, appearing in the match day squad for two Sky Bet Championship games in December 2019 without making an appearance.

Josh, who often captains the B Team and Under-19 sides, was involved throughout pre-season with Carlos Corberán’s First Team before making his senior bow.

He is the latest Young Terrier to commit his future to the Club with a new contract, following closely on from Ryan Schofield, Kieran PhillipsKian Harratt, Pat Jones and Luke Daley.

Huddersfield Town’s Head of Football Operations Leigh Bromby commented:

“Since signing his first professional contract with the Club in August 2019, Josh has continued to impress and has certainly taken the next steps forward in his development.

“He made a positive impact during the First Team’s pre-season preparations and fully deserved his senior debut in the Carabao Cup game, just as he deserves his new contract today.

“There’s still a lot of development to come with Josh, and his attitude and application to training sets him in good stead as we move forward.”
