Ryan Schofield has today committed his long-term future to Huddersfield Town, putting pen-to-paper on a contract running until June 2023!

The 20-year-old goalkeeper was previously on a contract running until the summer of 2021 after the Club took its option at the conclusion of last season, but he will now stay with the Terriers for a further two years.

Ryan, who is currently recovering after undergoing surgery on a thumb injury sustained during pre-season, is an England Under-20 international, winning the prestigious Toulon Tournament in 2017.

A Huddersfield Town Academy graduate, he made his Sky Bet Championship debut last season, keeping a clean sheet in a goalless draw with Middlesbrough at the John Smith’s Stadium.

Previously he had started in the Carabao Cup for Town, supplementing senior experience through loan spells at Livingston, Notts County, AFC Telford United and FC United of Manchester.

Huddersfield Town’s Head of Football Operations Leigh Bromby commented:

“We’re delighted that Ryan has extended his contract with us at Huddersfield Town.

“He has an excellent pedigree from playing in England’s youth teams and had some really valuable experiences during his loan moves. Alongside this, his personality and attitude are exactly what we want from our young, up-and-coming players.

“We believe this is the perfect place to transition Ryan into a regular First Team player as we see him becoming our future No.1.”
