Huddersfield Town defender Naby Sarr was delighted with the late equaliser but says the Terriers deserved more than a draw from the encounter with Rotherham United.
The Terriers dominated the ball as well as having the majority of the chances but had to wait until deep into stoppage time to get on the board, with a deflected Pipa strike cancelling out Rotherham’s early opener to earn Town a point.
Naby looked back on the encounter at the New York Stadium when speaking to #HTTV post-match.
“I think if you watch the overall game, I think we deserved more than just a draw,” he said.
“The team showed great character to keep going until the end and we had the reward, so we’ll take a point, but I think we deserved more.
“We were controlling the game pretty good, we had some chances, we just had to put some details in the last 30 metres.
“With a bit of luck, we had this goal at the end. We should’ve won this game, but we’ll take the draw.”
Town’s late goal rescued a point from what was a physical Yorkshire derby with the Millers from start to finish.
Naby was delighted that the Terriers could get some reward for their afternoon’s work, deep into stoppage time.
“Everyone was happy. We tried for 90 minutes to score this goal and finally it happened so late in the game.
“I think everyone felt great about this.”
The Frenchman made his debut at the New York Stadium off the back of his first full week of training with the squad.
Naby looked back on his first 90 minutes in Town colours when speaking post-match.
“It was a bit hard because my last game was the final game of last season but I’m happy to play again.
“This style of play is good for me because I like to play out from the back.
“I’ve trained all week with the team, I’ve learned a lot of things and I tried to put them on the pitch today.”
