- Pat Jones signs his first professional contract at Huddersfield Town
- 17-year-old agrees a deal that runs until 2022
- Club has the option of a further year’s extension

Huddersfield Town Academy winger Pat Jones has signed his first professional contract with the Club!

The 17-year-old winger, who played for Carlos Corberán’s First Team in the pre-season friendly against Manchester United’s Under-23s in August, has agreed a deal that runs until the summer of 2022, at which point the Club has the option of a further year’s extension.

Pat played junior football for Welsh non-league clubs Ruthin Town and Bala Town before joining Wrexham’s Academy in 2017.

He was spotted by Town’s Academy Manager Emyr Humphreys playing for the Red Dragons against Accrington Stanley in March 2019, and he soon impacted Wrexham’s First Team – playing in a pre-season friendly against Curzon Ashton while just 16 years old that summer.

The Wales Under-17 international joined Town for a one-week trial in September 2019 and was soon offered a scholarship, which he accepted.

Once international clearance was received, he immediately netted three goals in his first five appearances for Town’s Under-17s, earning him three games with the older EDT and Under-19 squad.

So far this season, he has trained extensively alongside Carlos Corberán’s squad as part of the newly formed B Team. He’s started all three B Team games and was part of the First Team squad that travelled to Brentford for the Sky Bet Championship game on 19 September.

Huddersfield Town Academy Manager Emyr Humphreys commented:

“Pat thoroughly deserves his first professional contract.

“Since joining us, he’s shown the dedication we want from our young players. He drives the standards on the pitch and is always putting in extra work and analysing his own clips to further his development.

“Not only that, his educational work has also been exemplary.

“Everyone at the Club is looking forward to continuing their work with Pat and we hope he can continue to excel with us.”
