Carlos Corberán says his Huddersfield Town side continue to focus on turning in positive performances ahead of Saturday’s trip to Millwall.

The Terriers were dominant in possession at St Andrew’s in midweek, but were beaten 2-1 following a late Birmingham City goal against the run of play, a few days on from defeat to Preston North End by the same scoreline.

Looking ahead to his side’s next test against the Lions on Saturday afternoon, Town’s Head Coach says his side are keen to build on the minor details that has stopped them from getting the three points in their last two outings, in order to continue developing as a team.

“We can’t think that everything was perfect, because if it was, we’d have won the game (against Birmingham City),” he said.

“We need to be thinking in the details that we didn’t do well enough because for me, this is how we can grow as a team and this is how we can prepare our minds for the tough season.”

Saturday’s match in the capital will come just three days after that defeat in the Midlands and will be Town’s fifth match of seven over a period of 21 days prior to the November international break.

The Spaniard says the Terriers need to continue possessing high levels of concentration and focus in order to navigate through this busy period of matches successfully.

“For me, as a team we need to have a strong mindset. Our minds have to be ready.

“This competition is tough because you play consecutively and when you do that, you need to have strong minds to face any game.

“If you came from one defeat, you need to have a strong mind to forget the defeat, to learn the defeat and be ready to face the next game.

“What you need to do as fast as possible is reset your mind, learn from the last game taking responsibilities for the problems and be more prepared for the next game.”

Speaking in his pre-match press virtual press conference on Friday afternoon, Carlos looked at the qualities Saturday’s opponents pose.

Occupying fourth place in the table following a strong start to the campaign, Town’s Head coach details what kind of challenge he expects from Millwall.

“We know that tomorrow is going to be another tough and demanding game.

“Millwall are making a good season so far. They have a lot of strengths and we are going to have to work very well to face this team because it will be a demanding game but something different from the other games we have played this year.”

Ahead of the trip to The Den, Carlos also provided the latest team news update.

Whilst Danny Ward (hamstring), Rarmani Edmonds-Green (hip) and Tommy Elphick (knee) all remain unavailable along with Álex Vallejo who is completing his quarantine period, the Spaniard will have the services of Naby Sarr who is returning from suspension along with a fully fit Jonathan Hogg for Saturday’s game.

The latter was feeling unwell last time out and was forced off before the hour mark against Birmingham but has since returned to full fitness ahead of the trip to the capital.

“Fortunately, he recovered very well,” Carlos explained to the media.

“He had some problems, but he suffered most of the consequences of the problems in the night after the game.

“Yesterday, he started to feel well and trained with the group. He’s going to be one available player.”
