Huddersfield Town Head Coach Carlos Corberán reflected on his side’s performance following the 2-1 defeat to Preston North End at the John Smith’s Stadium.

The Terriers had gone into an early lead through Fraizer Campbell but two goals shortly after the break from Alan Browne turned the game on its head to leave Town empty-handed.

Carlos gave his thoughts on the match pitchside following the final whistle.

“I think the team started the first half really well and finished it well too but there was a moment after we scored the goal that we couldn’t control the game like we wanted to,” he said.

“They didn’t create many chances, but they made us run more than the normal without the ball.

“Our idea from the restart was to start strong because we knew they would press high again but in this 10 minutes, we couldn’t give the right solution.

“We have to analyse now what happened in these 10 minutes because for me, they avoided us to get something from today.”

Having held the lead going into half-time, two Preston goals in the opening seven minutes of the second half quickly turned the game around and put Town on the back foot.

Carlos looked back on the pivotal period in the encounter.

“We need to be more focused in these minutes because they are going to be key to get something positive from games.

“We need to be ready with the right intensity to face every minute of the game.”

In the closing stages, the Terriers were reduced to 10 men when Naby Sarr was dismissed for a last-man challenge, but despite that, Carlos’ side continued to fight to the end and went close on several occasions to an equalising goal.

Town’s Head Coach praised the team’s effort in his post-match interview.

“I appreciate the effort the team put in until the end a lot.

“In this effort, it’s complicated to produce something positive with one player less, but I think the player played with a level of enthusiasm, energy and effort that was very nice.

“It’s always important to never give up in any type of circumstance.”
