Huddersfield Town midfielder Carel Eiting says the dressing room was disappointed following the 2-1 defeat to Birmingham City but insists the Terriers have to keep building on their performances.

Town came away from the game at St Andrew’s empty-handed despite Isaac Mbenza’s late goal after Lucas Jutkiewicz had restored the hosts’ lead in the 90th minute.

Carel gave an insight into the feeling in the dressing room post-match.

“It’s really big (the disappointment in the dressing room) but I think everybody understands it,” he said.

“We play to win, we don’t play to draw or to lose. When we were 1-0 down, we were looking for two goals, so after we got it back to 1-1, we were not done.

“It’s a shame that this happened.”

Town dominated the ball in the Midlands and restricted to the hosts to a minimal amount of opportunities throughout the game, particularly in the second half.

The midfielder says that the defeat is a disappointment, but acknowledges that there are things that Town can take from the performance going forward.

“For me, on the pitch. I like that we as a team have the ball and can be creative.

“There were some moments we did well, and the tempo was good, but it wasn’t enough.

“We need more of the good moments and we need to try to create more so we’re more dangerous as a team.”

Wednesday night’s game was Carel’s latest for the Terriers having joined the Club from Dutch giants Ajax on a season-long loan just over a month ago.

Carel gave an insight into how he’s found life at Town in his first few weeks at the Club.

“I love the Club.

“The people are great, we’re really a team. Not only the players, but the staff, everybody from the Club.

“I’m so happy to be here and I’m learning a lot about other things of the game.

“I just hope as a team we can win these matches. When you’re close, it’s not enough. I hope we can learn and try to get more positive results.”
