Huddersfield Town defender Naby Sarr says the 4-3 defeat to Stoke City was a tough one to take but insists the Terriers have to learn from it and bounce back next time out.

Town battled throughout the 90 minutes in Staffordshire but were on the receiving end of the seven-goal scoreline.

The defender spoke to #HTTV as he came off the pitch at the bet365 Stadium.

“It really hurts. The four goals, I think we just gave them away, they came from our mistakes,” he said.

“We tried to recover the score, we scored three. Normally, you don’t lose when you score three but like I said, our mistakes made us lose the game.”

Naby reflected on the Terriers’ errors in the encounter which ultimately saw them come away empty-handed despite a battling performance.

The 27-year-old says Town are keen to learn from those moments in order to improve as a team going forward.

“We have to get rid of these mistakes, it’s those details that’s cost us the goals.

“We have to learn from the defeat, it hurts everyone, but we have to be focused again to bounce back quickly. We have to learn from it and move forward.”

Town’s no.23 also registered his first goal for the Club in the encounter.

Despite his pride at getting on the scoresheet, the defender’s focus is firmly on bouncing back during Tuesday night’s trip to Wycombe.

“I’m happy to score but the most important thing is the team. We didn’t win the game so I’m disappointed.

“Hopefully we’ll bounce back quickly in our next game.

“It’s good that we have a game in three days. We have a chance to quickly recover and another chance to get a better result.”
