Town’s 3-2 Sky Bet Championship win over Middlesbrough was particularly special for midfielder Jonathan Hogg.

The 31-year-old led the team to victory against his hometown club, where he played in the Academy before moving and turning professional with Aston Villa.

“Brilliant; it had a bit of everything,” Hoggy told HTTV post-match.

“The Head Coach said before the game that we can’t just attack – we’ll have to defend really well. I thought we defended well, attacked well and it was a solid performance.

“That’s a top performance and a great night. We needed it. Results lately haven’t been what our performances justified but tonight we worked hard, battled and played some great stuff, scoring three goals again.”

On a personal note, Jonathan was delighted that the victory will give him bragging rights when he speaks to his friends in the North East!

He continued: “This is special. I’ve captained the team of a Club where I’ve been for so long and love against my hometown team. That’s something special for me and I won’t forget it any time soon.”

Jonathan reserved his final words for top scorer Josh Koroma, who notched a superb fourth goal of the season to secure the three points in the final 10 minutes.

“He’s been fantastic, Josh. He was out in the cold a bit last year but has come back flying this season. He’s lost a lot of body weight and his fitness has been fantastic. He’s worked hard and credit to him. If he keeps scoring goals, he’ll stay in this team.”
