Huddersfield Town Head Coach Carlos Corberán is expecting a difficult game as his Wycombe Wanderers side travels to Adams Park.

Tuesday’s visit to The Chairboys comes around quickly after Saturday’s visit to Stoke City, a sign of things to come over the next few weeks.

And speaking to the media during his pre-match press conference on Monday afternoon, Carlos highlighted how his side have been doing preparing for another difficult test on Tuesday.

“Wycombe are a team that have needed some matches to adapt to the level of the Championship since being promoted.

“I think it’s easy for people to look at a team coming from League 1 and say they will be a weak team, but I never believe this.

“Our job is to analyse the teams that we face, and we can see that they may have lost a few early games but now they have lost only one of their last five.

“After their first results they have changed their shape, started to play more 4-3-1-2 and since they have become more competitive in the Championship.

“Their improvement is very clear, and that means that this game is going to be demanding.”

The Spaniard also gave an insight into how his side will look for the Wycombe match.

“Right now, the team is pretty much in the same condition (as ahead of the Stoke game), we continue with the same players and the only change is Josh Koroma is a doubt.

“We will have to see about that one, he picked up a knock when defending a set piece, and of course, at the minute when we have consecutive games and the players get small issues, we have to see how they react. Josh, he will travel tomorrow and then we will have the make a decision.

“Pritchard and Pipa are continuing their recovery; they are entering the final stages of that so hopefully they may be with the squad soon.

“And also Hamer is in a similar situation, and next week he will hopefully be back with the team.”

Another important point Carlos raised was how the Terriers must find the perfect balance between attacking and defending if they are to win games, especially after Saturday’s narrow loss.

“When we concede four goals, we are never going to be happy, even when we know we did a lot of positive things.

“We want to be demanding with ourselves, try to find the best possibilities during the game that can help us to harm the opponent and create chances, but at the same time we need to understand the game better; it’s always important to find the balance.

“Sometimes when you attack you lose the concentration in defence and vice versa, it is important to find this balance in each game.

“In some of the matches before the last one we didn’t concede many goals, or many chances even. Sometimes when we concede goals it doesn’t mean we aren’t defending well, it can mean we are not attacking well.

“Two of the goals in the last game were a second ball situation, something that demands a lot in the Championship, and if you lose these more often than not you are going to give a chance to your opponent to score a goal, something we need to try to avoid; that was one point from the game.

“At the same time the other two were when we tried to play out and weren’t ready, again we need to concentrate, but that means we didn’t attack well because we lost the ball.

“This is something we can always work on and for me it is key.”
