Head Coach Carlos Corberán praised the character and personality of his Huddersfield Town side after they battled to a 3-2 win over Middlesbrough at the John Smith’s Stadium.

The Terriers came from behind to go into the break 2-1 ahead, before restoring a late lead through Josh Koroma after the visitors had levelled the game in the closing stages.

Following the win, Carlos gave his thoughts on the action-packed encounter.

“I think we played a very tough game. It was not an easy game against the team that have conceded the least amount of goals in the Championship before the game,” he said.

“It was a challenge for us, especially with the goal they scored in the first minutes of the game.

“We didn’t change a negative result to a positive result until today, so I think it was a very positive step for the team that shows they have a lot of personality and character.”

Having been pegged back to 2-2 in the final 10 minutes, Town continued to show character and restored the lead less than three minutes later through Josh Koroma, with the goal that would go on to secure all three points for the Terriers.

As well as praising his team’s performance, he applauded his players’ individual showings as instrumental in the win.

“I think without individual performance, you cannot get any positive collective performance.

“In the highest level, to win this game, we needed a lot of positive performances from an individual point of view.”

Next up for Town is a trip to the Cardiff City Stadium on Tuesday evening to take on Cardiff City in the Sky Bet Championship.

Town’s Head Coach is delighted to be going into that game off the back of three points at the John Smith’s Stadium.

“I think the happiness for me comes from the fact that the effort, the character and the personality the team put on the pitch received three points.

“We know this team (Middlesbrough) challenged us in attack and defence because they have strong players in all places.

“I am very pleased that the effort and the commitment of the players has received three points.”
