Carel Eiting was pleased to score his first Town goal in the 1-1 draw with Luton – but is keen for the team to continue developing over the international break.

The Ajax loanee’s deft header on the hour mark restored parity in the score-line at the John Smith’s Stadium and earned the Terriers a hard-fought point – but Carel wanted more.

“I thought we created more in the first-half; three really good chances that we needed to score,” he told #HTTV straight after the full-time whistle.

“We almost didn’t give anything away today; just a stupid free-kick, with the second ball and then the goal. That’s makes it difficult for us.

“I wasn’t quite happy in the second half as I thought we could have kept the ball better and played in their half. Maybe we could have been a little bit more patient on the ball and tried not to create something too quickly.

“I’m really happy I made my first goal though. I’ve had a couple of good matches before when I could have scored or given an assist, so now I’m happy to get my first one.”

Carlos Corberán’s side now get a two-week break whilst international games are played to prepare for the hectic run of games over Christmas.

“We can be happy,” Carel continued. “We now have a little break and we can reflect on a tough seven games and prepare for the next matches coming up. Hopefully we can get more points than this time.

“In a lot of games, we have dominated the ball – but maybe we haven’t created enough chances. Sometimes if you only score one, it’s not enough. In the next two weeks, I hope we can take the next step, but it’s important to recover now for the tough past few weeks.”
