Huddersfield Town supporters can now re-live the entire 2005/06 campaign for FREE on #HTTV!

After a successful run at the end of the 2004/05 campaign, Peter Jackson’s side had their eyes set on promotion from League 1.

The Terriers carried a lot of momentum into the new season and only lost two of their first 14 games, topping the table on two occasions!

Jackson’s side hit some trouble over the Christmas period, but didn’t fall out of the Play-Off places since the third week of the season.

The goals of Paweł Abbott, Gary Taylor-Fletcher, Andy Booth, Danny Schofield and Sheffield Wednesday loan signing David Graham helped Town to have the joint-second best scoring record in the division behind Swansea City.

After just missing out on automatic promotion, Jackson’s side settled for a Play-Off spot. The Terriers beat Barnsley 1–0 at Oakwell in the Play-Off Semi-Final first leg but lost 3-1 (3-2 on aggregate) on their own turf at what was then called the Galpharm Stadium.

The 2005/06 campaign is also iconic for some memorable cup ties. Around 6,000 Town fans, around half of the overall attendance, travelled to Ewood Park to watch Jackson’s side against then-Premier League side Blackburn Rovers in the Second Round of the Carling Cup.

After beating Welling United and Worcester City in the FA Cup, Jackson’s side was handed an FA Cup tie against Chelsea in the Third Round of the competition. Town were just eight minutes away from forcing Chelsea to a replay, after a goal from Gary Taylor-Fletcher, before succumbing to a goal by Eiður Guðjohnsen.
