Huddersfield Town defender Harry Toffolo has spoken of his delight in winning the BWF Player of the Month award for February, saying that he is looking to build on the work he has already put in on a personal level.
Town’s No.3 has played every minute of every game since arriving at the Club in the January transfer window.
As well as being ever-present for The Terriers, Toffolo scored his first goal and claimed his first assist for the Club during the month of February. He says that he is wanting to build on his good personal performances going forwards in order to help the team.
“It’s amazing to be able to get it (the award) in my first full month at the Club and it’s brilliant if I can continue to build on that success we’ve had.
“We had some good results during that month, I myself managed to get a goal and chip in with an assist and I’m claiming that one from the other week, which doesn’t seem to have gone down! But to get a goal and two assists in one month is great and I’m looking to build on that.”
Toffolo acknowledges the role that the fans have played for him since joining the Club, and is thankful of the support he has had from them in winning the award.
“It’s huge. The fans are the Football Club.
“If I can impress them, which I’m trying to do every single day, I can work hard during the week with the manager and the squad, if I can then turn up on a Saturday, Tuesday night or Wednesday night and perform at my best, that’s all I can do.
“They’ve enjoyed both sides of my game - the defending side, getting clean sheets when we’ve done it and also contributing going forward, which is something that I like to do and if I can build on that, that’s great.”
Toffolo believes he has adapted well to life since making the step back up from Sky Bet League 1to the Sky Bet Championship. He admits it has been a test coming up against a higher standard of opposition but one that he is enjoying taking on.
“I think, with me I’ve played an accumulation of a lot of games and I think the physicality of the league I’m ready for it.
“It’s just getting used to the quality and standard of players each week because every single week you’re playing against a top winger or full back so you have to keep working hard, doing a lot of homework on the videos, to make sure you’re in the right place.
“I’ve got the best two people guiding me at the minute with Danny and Nicky, and if I can continue to work with them, that’s great.”
