Take a look back at the Huddersfield Town’s victory over Norwich City at Carrow Road in 2016, which moved them up to third in the Sky Bet Championship.

Christmas festivities began early for David Wagner’s Terriers, who bagged their third successive win at Carrow Road on 16 December 2016.

Town got off to a brilliant start, finding the back of the net in the fifth minute through Elias Kachunga, who headed Tommy Smith’s cross home.

Norwich responded straight away, and less than a minute later Robbie Brady delivered a cross to Captain Jonny Howson, who headed the ball past Danny Ward.

That didn’t deter the Terriers who fought back with Nahki Wells nearly capitalising on a poor back pass, but it was Kachunga who went on to bag the Terriers’ second goal.

A good on the ball run through the midfield followed by a slick one-two with Smith opened Kachunga up with another chance on goal, which he took to give Town the lead in the 40th minute.

Kachunga continued his dominant form in the second half, almost scoring a similar goal for his hat-trick.

The hosts had their chances but could not find another way past Town stopper Danny Ward.

Sebastien Bassong almost equalised late on with a thumping header from a corner which missed, meaning that when the final whistle blew it was Town who ran away with all three points.

David Wagner praised his Town side for their strong performance in what he knew would be a tough away game.

“We wanted to be confident and play with our identity. We were very strong in the first half and I think we deserved the three points.

“When you play Norwich away there will be hard moments, but we were lucky and I’m very proud, this was a great week and I’m giving the player’s tomorrow off!”
