Since joining the Club in 2018, Juninho Bacuna has become one of Huddersfield Town’s most prevalent and exciting midfielders.

In June 2018, Juninho Bacuna arrived at Huddersfield Town ahead of the Club’s second consecutive season in the Premier League, from Dutch side Groningen. Bacuna had played for Groningen’s First Team from the age of 17, spending four years at his childhood club before making the move across the pond to the UK to join Town.

What was clear from the start, was that Bacuna already had that fighting Terrier Spirit.

“I’m a player that works hard, I want to give it my everything and am the type of player that never wants to lose,” he said in his first interview.

After making his debut in the Carabao Cup in August 2018, Bacca waited until October to make his Premier League debut coming on as a substitute against Watford.

His first goal for Town came against West Ham United in March 2019, heading home from a corner with expertise to draw both sides level in the first-half. Town would then go 3-1 up but that wasn’t enough to stop The Hammers from bouncing back.

Despite scoring his first goal, Bacuna admitted that he had ‘mixed feelings’ post-match after losing from a 3-1 lead.

It was definitely a tough first season at Town for Bacuna, some of his best highlights were overshadowed by disappointing results for the team. He ended the season, though, having made 21 appearances, scoring one goal.

Despite Town’s relegation to the Sky Bet Championship, Bacuna’s fighting spirit and resilience began to pay off as Town’s current season unfolded.

The arrival of the Cowley Brother’s proved to be a turning point and in October 2019, not long after their arrival, Bacuna scored his first goal of the current season, away at Stoke City.

The late winner sealed an important victory for the Club and was the best kick-starter possible for Town’s life under the Cowley brothers.

Another memorable highlight was his performance in Town’s 4-0 win over Charlton Athletic, assisting Karlan Grant in scoring the Terriers’ third and then scoring an incredible long-distance strike into the top corner just moments later.

Awarding himself with a goal worthy of the impressive performance he made that day.

After a tough first season, Bacuna’s time at Huddersfield Town has gone from strength to strength, he has taken huge strides in his development and has scored six goals so far this season and setting up five goals.
