RETAINED LIST CONFIRMED

24 July 2020

Five players were out of contract

- Huddersfield Town's 2019/20 retained list confirmed
- Coleman, Kachunga, Pyke, Quaner and Stanković leave the Club
- Options taken on Ryan Schofield and Demeaco Duhaney

Huddersfield Town can today confirm its Retained List of players following the conclusion of the 2019/20 Sky Bet Championship season.

Two players currently in the First Team squad have had options taken to extend their existing contracts into the 2020/21 campaign; Demeaco Duhaney and Ryan Schofield.

21-year-old right back Demeaco initially signed for Town’s Academy from Manchester City in August 2018. He made his debut in the Premier League win over Wolves in late February 2019 and has followed up with another six First Team appearances in the current campaign.

Goalkeeper Ryan, 20, who progressed through the Town Academy, made his competitive Terriers debut this season, playing the full 90 minutes in the 0-0 draw at home to Middlesbrough in the Sky Bet Championship.

The England Under-20 international spent the second half of the curtailed season on loan at Scottish Premiership side Livingston.

Four First Team players have not been offered a new contract and will now depart the Club; Elias Kachunga, Collin Quaner, Joel Coleman and Rekeil Pyke.

As previously disclosed, defender Jon Gorenc Stanković is also departing the Club to join Austrian club Sturm Graz.

Coleman, Kachunga, Quaner and Stanković sealed their place in Town’s history books as part of the squad that achieved promotion to the Premier League in 2017.

‘Kache’ netted 13 goals during the promotion campaign, whilst Quaner earned his place in folklore with his vital contribution in the second leg of the Play-Off semi-final at Sheffield Wednesday.

Goalkeeper Coleman made 19 appearances for Town, including the first leg of the aforementioned Play-Off Final, whilst centre back Stanković made 46 appearances for the Terriers since joining in the summer of 2016.

Rekeil progressed through the age groups in Town’s Academy and gained experience of football through the pyramid through several loan spells before making his Town debut at Fulham in February.

The players departing today have made big contributions to Town over the years, and everyone at the Club would like to thank Elias, Collin, Joel, Rekeil and Jon for their effort and commitment to the cause – in particular in extending their existing contracts to play in the extended 2019/20 season.

The loanees who played for Town during the 2019/20 season have also returned to their parent clubs at the conclusion of the season.

Trevoh Chalobah, Chris Willock, Andy King, Emile Smith Rowe and Jonas Lössl all played huge roles in helping the Terriers retain Sky Bet Championship status, again extending their loan deals into July to play in the vital games after the restart.

Everyone at the Club would like to extend their thanks and best wishes to all the players for the future!
