Huddersfield Town Chief Executive Mark Devlin is excited about the future of the Football Club following the appointment of Carlos Corberán.

Carlos joined the Terriers from Leeds United as the Club looks to go in a new direction on the pitch.

When speaking after the Head Coach’s appointment, Mark explained how hard everyone worked to make sure they got their man.

“I think everyone is really excited. I met and had a good conversation with Carlos. He’s incredibly passionate and really excited about the job.

“We are excited about what he’s going to bring to the Club. We all know it’s a little bit of a risk and it’s been a hectic week, but we think we’ve made the right appointment and have an excellent First Team Coach.

“We think Carlos’ attitude towards football, his philosophy, the way he is with players, and his approach is exactly right for the Club.”

The appointment also saw a change from Manager to Head Coach. Town’s Chief Executive explained how the role change fits into the vision of the Club.

“We want to operate with a Head Coach. We want someone who will work really hard with all our players, take an interest in not only the First Team but some of our fantastic youngsters we’ve got coming through.

“We’ve got someone who cares passionately and wants to work on the pitch and wants to concentrate on that part of the job.

“Carlos’ appointment ticks all the boxes we are looking for in terms of his style of football, coaching mentality, open mindedness. We are all on the same page.

“It’s important that after two difficult years we start pulling in the right direction. We are excited for the future of this club and the direction we are heading.

“I sense that there’s now a real buzz around the place and a feeling that we are all moving together on this.”

With a change in style, there will be an increased focus on recruiting the right players to fit the system.

Devlin explained that the Club will work hard to make sure Carlos has everything in place to support him in his role.

“It wouldn’t be right of us to appoint him for all his attributes and then make it difficult to achieve what we are all looking for which is fast-paced, high pressed, attacking football, which will excite the fans.

“There’s a degree of risk with everything in football and there is risk, but there will be some really exciting football that the fans will want to watch.”
