New Head Coach Carlos Corberán can’t wait to start creating a new philosophy at Huddersfield Town.

Carlos, who joined the Terriers from Leeds United, has had over 10 years’ experience in coaching and has worked under some of the best and most high-profile managers in the game.

After being appointed, Town’s new Head Coach sat down with #HTTV and expressed his delight at being given this opportunity.

“Honestly, I’m very happy and very pleased to come here and to start to work here with all of the Huddersfield family.

“I think sometimes, of course, it’s the opportunities, when the moments arrive, you need to take advantage of these moments.

“I think it was the right moment to make this step, especially because it was the right opportunity to do it with Huddersfield.

“I had a lot of trust from the first meeting I had with the people here. I was thinking that it was the right moment to do this step, the right moment to take the opportunity and to start to operate together.”

Town’s change in management was made as the Club works towards its vision, and Carlos explained that it was the opportunity and the shared aims that enticed him to the Terriers.

“First of all, you have the people, where you are meeting the people, the people start to make you feel something.

“It’s like when I meet with Leigh Bromby and at the same time, with the Chairman, I started to feel that they have a very clear idea of what they wanted and at the same time we had a very positive feeling that we can do this together.

“When you start to meet people and you start to share ideas, and everybody starts to feel the same, then I think you are going in the right direction.

“Of course, too, when you are talking about one big club, you can feel more excited to make this step.”

Before being appointed, Carlos sat down with the Chairman Phil Hodgkinson, as well as Head of Football Operations Leigh Bromby, and discussed where they wanted the Club to go.

The alignment, alongside an agreed style of play, was key for the Head Coach.

“I think in the first talk we had together, they (Hodgkinson and Bromby) had an idea to create something and to create our style of game.

“I was in total agreement with them because I think in the first step, we need to feel how we want to play. I think in both parts, we agreed, about how we want to be in the future here in Huddersfield.

“Of course, one of the reasons that I’m here is because both of them had the same feeling about what we want to be on the pitch.

“We want to be brave, we want to be a great team, we want to show when I start that we want to have one identity, we want to defend this identity playing at home and playing away.

“After, I was really positively surprised because I phoned the Head of Football Operations and he was very focused in the methodology of training, very focused about what we are going to do during the week and this is one thing that made me think we are with people that can have the same ideas that we have.

“We are really focused, and we are very demanding about the methodology of the training. We try to take care of the intensity of the training and how we prepare for games.

“We will be trying to develop an identity, trying to create a culture, trying to create an environment that allow us to define one’s style of game.”
