New Huddersfield Town defender Richard Stearman is keen to get out on the pitch straight away.
The experienced centre-back has joined the Terriers from Sheffield United and is determined to help his new teammates as soon as he can.
In his first interview with the Club, he explained why this was the right move for him.
“I’m delighted to be here and really happy to get it over the line. I’m raring to go now, meet the lads and get out on the green stuff. Like I said, really raring to go and looking forward to the challenge.
“It’s a fantastic club with great history, recently relegated from the Premier League, with real ambition. I wanted to be a part of it.
“At my previous club I didn’t play as much I’d have like this season, they’ve gone on to do fantastic things and I couldn’t force my way into that.
“I was keen to get out, play some games, prolong my career, get out on the green stuff and Huddersfield Town wanted to give me that opportunity.”
Stearman has made over 400 appearances in English football and had promotions to the top-flight with Wolverhampton Wanderers and Sheffield United.
The 32-year-old defender explained how Danny Cowley wants him to use his experience both on and off the pitch.
“I’m not just here to help on the pitch, I can do a lot of it as well in and around the dressing room, help the lads along. There’s a lot of good young players here as well.
“It’s about creating the culture and the good habits that the Club needs, I think.
“He knew how many games I’d amassed in this division and in the one above. He was keen to get me through the door to help not just on the pitch, but in the dressing room as well. To be a leader for him on the pitch.”
