SCHINDY: WE HAVE TO PRESS THE RESET BUTTON

17 January 2020

Christopher Schindler on the impact the new signings will have on the team

- Town’s Captain on a poor start to 2020
- Defender discussed how the new signings have settled at Town
- Schindler looks towards the next game against Brentford

Huddersfield Town Captain Christopher Schindler explained how the new signings have already benefited the group.

The Terriers have had a difficult start to 2020 losing to Stoke City and Barnsley in the Sky Bet Championship, still looking for their first win of the year.

Town will look to get that first victory this weekend and Schindler discussed what the players have been doing to get back on track.

“We all wanted the year to start better and we knew we had a great opportunity with the last two fixtures to make a big step.

“We couldn’t get the result and couldn’t get the performance on the pitch that we wanted to, there were too many players that weren’t performing their best and we have to get that back.

“Now we have to press the reset button, focus and try and get back on track in the next fixture.”

Since the defeat to Barnsley, three new players have signed and could make their debuts this weekend. Town’s Captain explained the impact they’ve made already.

“They have settled into the group really well.

“It can be seen in the training sessions already that they bring in a new energy, which is something we need, and they make the quality of training better because now there is a competition for the starting positions.

“(The experience of Andy King and Richard Stearman) can only help us as they are vocal and have big characters and this means they are players that younger players can look up to as well as make other players focus on themselves and improve.”

Brentford are flying high in the Sky Bet Championship and are in a good vein of form. Schindler explained the difficulty of the game.

“They always find a way to cause us problems with their playing style, they have a way of creating spaces and they know each other really well and for me they are the best teams I have played in this division.

“Still, we found a way to get a result and I think we have to find a way to link in this game as well in order to get another result.

“We have more options now with who plays, which means we are harder to predict, and we need to go back to the style where we have the most success.

“It is up to us to get them (the supporters) back behind us.”
