LOAN: YOUNG TERRIER OLAGUNJU JOINS TADCASTER

10 January 2020

Teenage centre back to gain first experience of senior football

- Mustapha Olagunju joins Tadcaster Albion on loan
- First senior experience for the talented centre back
- 18-year-old departs for a month initially

Huddersfield Town Academy defender Mustapha Olagunju will gain his first experience of senior football after joining Tadcaster Albion on loan today.

The centre back, who turned 18 years old on New Year’s Day, will join the North Yorkshire club for an initial month’s stay.

Hailing from Plumstead, Mustapha first joined Town on a two-year scholarship in the summer of 2018 from London-based XYZ Academy.

He really impressed the coaches, leading to him signing his first professional contract in August 2019; a deal that committed his future to the Terriers until the summer of 2021 at the least.

Centre back Olagunju has subsequently made 18 appearances for Town’s Elite Development Team and Under-19s so far this season, as well as a further eight starts – with two goals – for the Under-17 side.

He also travelled with Danny Cowley’s First Team squad to the training camp in Dubai during November 2019.

Mustapha will now gain his first experience of senior football with Tadcaster Albion, who play in the eighth tier of English football; the Northern Premier League North West Division.

That’s the same level as Brighouse Town, where fellow centre back Rarmani Edmonds-Green enjoyed a successful loan last season before making his Sky Bet Championship debut in December.

Managed by Paul Quinn, Tadcaster currently sit fourth in their league – three points off the first placed team with a game in hand.
