Manager Danny Cowley is delighted with the number of Huddersfield Town supporters making the trip to Oakwell on Saturday.
Around 4,000 people will back the Terriers for this weekend’s Sky Bet Championship game against Barnsley – the biggest the Club has had for over two years.
The Tykes currently sit 23rd in the Sky Bet Championship table, seven points behind Town.
When speaking to the press, Danny Cowley detailed what he expects from Barnsley.
“We are respectful that a new Manager is now in place and he’s made a really good start to life at Barnsley and in the Championship.
“We understand the magnitude of the game in our season and also the importance of the game to our supporters.
“I believe we are taking near on 4,000 supporters, which is an incredible number and that’s going to really help us.
“We know Barnsley are in a really good moment, they’ve had a good period, probably their best period of the season. They’re playing with a renewed energy, press aggressively, play in a diamond system and are able to get lots of pressure on the ball because of that system. They’re also playing purposefully when in possession.
“We are very understanding of their strengths, we’ve looked at the game from a tactical point of view.
“We also know we have to bring the right mentality and the right level of fight if we are going to get on the right side of it on Saturday.”
Town’s Manager admitted that the Club are in a relegation battle and that a win over the Tykes would certainly help them meet their aim.
“We are on 28 points with 21 games to go. We want to get to 50 points, so a win would get us into the 30s and then you feel that much closer.
“We know that if we stay process orientated then the outcomes will take care of themselves. For us, we are focused on trying to get better and improve.
“We have clarity over how we want to play and where we want to get to. We now have time of the grass to continue to train and develop the team.
“We are hoping to have new bodies in the team to reenergise the group and to give us more flexibility with how we want to play.”
After a busy Christmas period, Danny Cowley revealed how is squad is feeling physically.
“We’ve come through a really busy period of five games in 14 days, so that naturally always takes its toll.
“We’ve had a good chance to recharge the batteries and freshen up as a group.
“It’s been nice to have this week on the training pitch because it’s the first week we’ve really had on the grass.
“We are in a good place to go into what will be a really good game on Saturday.”
