Huddersfield Town Captain Christopher Schindler insists the team don’t need any extra motivation and are focused on the task that awaits them ahead of Saturday’s visit of Charlton Athletic.

The Addicks make the trip up to the John Smith’s Stadium on Saturday and are only above Town in the Sky Bet Championship table on goal difference.

Speaking to #HTTV ahead of the encounter, Schindy recognised the importance of the game but says Town have to stay focused on what they can do, both on Saturday, and in the coming weeks.

“Every game is big. If those teams (like Charlton) come to our place, we have to make it as hard as we can for them. It is without a doubt a very important game.

“We don’t need the special motivation though. We know what we’re playing for and we know the situation in the table is tight and we need the points.

“It’s about us getting enough points and not about other teams not getting enough. We have to stay with us and focus on us.

“We can’t influence what they do, we can influence what we do on the pitch and that’s how we have to see the last 11 games.”

Saturday’s game will be second in five days for Town in-front of the home fans at the John Smith’s Stadium. The defender discussed the impact the supporters can, and have had, on the side.

“It can be more pressure, but the way the fans are responding to when we’re doing well in games, they are there immediately, and they push us.

“This make me really confident. They are always positive, and we have to show on the pitch as well that they have a reason to be positive.

“With (the result against) Bristol City, we got a very important three points and they played a big part in it. This is how we need to play the last games; we need them behind us, and I have no doubt they’ll support the best they can and help us stay in the league.”

Tuesday night’s win over Bristol City was the perfect response to the weekend’s defeat at Swansea City in the game before. Schindy insists it was important Town bounced back with the teams around them picking up points.

“We are glad that we could turn this week into a promising one after a bad start with the Swansea game. We’re glad we could bounce back and get a good result against Bristol City.

“If you see how close it is at the bottom of the table, you need to collect points regularly and that’s what we’re trying to do.”

Schindy looked back to Saturday’s loss at the Liberty Stadium and says the team collectively showed a determination, in the changing rooms in South Wales, to get back on track in midweek.

“We fought really hard to get back into the game and then conceding after the set play and losing 3-1 was a really tough hit for everyone.

“I’m not going to lie, in the changing room (after the game), we were a little louder and more emotional than usual because we know that now is a really important time and we can’t afford to give points away.

“Off the back of it, having a performance where everyone helped each other out when they needed to, it was a really good sign that the team’s alive and intact. We are ready to go, and we know what we are playing for.”
