Huddersfield Town Manager Danny Cowley says the team are fully focused on performing at a consistent level ahead of the visit of Charlton Athletic on Saturday.

Town are only below the Addicks in the Sky Bet Championship table on goal difference, and although several teams around them have been frequently picking up points in recent games, Danny says Town’s focus is firmly on what they’re doing themselves.

“Whilst we look at the other results with interest, we know what we need to do," Danny explained.

"The teams around us are winning and what it probably has done is drag a few more teams into that relegation battle, but we’re focused on trying to get a consistent level of performance."

During his Press Conference on Thursday afternoon, Danny expressed his desire for Town to produce the level of performance that they did to beat Bristol City in midweek, against Charlton at the weekend.

“It’s the biggest game of our season because it’s the next one. We try not to get caught up in the emotion of it all, I know it sounds really boring, but we’re process-orientated and this is our next game.

“We were pleased with our performance on Tuesday night and I think really since Brentford at home, we’ve started to see seeds that suggest we’re going to be able to get to a consistent performance.

The two teams last met in December when Town ran out 1-0 winners at the Valley, courtesy of a stoppage time winner from Matty Daly. Danny believes that like Town, Charlton have changed a fair bit since that encounter.

“I think they’re in a much better place than when we played them last. Both ourselves and them were in somewhat of an injury crisis and it was a close game that we just about managed to get on the right side of.

“This time around, I think they’ve got their squad back fit. They had a really successful transfer window, added to the quality of the group and they’ve got real competition for places.

“I look at them and see a good Championship squad. We anticipate a really tough game on Saturday against a team that are focused, determined, have some substance about them and some quality at the top end of the pitch.”

Ahead of Saturday’s game, Danny also provided an update on the status of midfielder Jonathan Hogg who was forced off during Tuesday night’s win with a knock.

“He’s had a scan. We’re still awaiting confirmation of those results, but it looks like the lateral side of his knee, the lateral ligament has been affected in the collision he went into.

“We’re waiting to see the severity of it but he’s a little bit sore still. We’ve all got our fingers crossed because he’s a very important player to us.”
