Huddersfield Town Manager Danny Cowley was impressed with his side’s response to defeat in midweek following the 1-1 draw with Derby County at Pride Park.

Harry Toffolo’s first goal for the Club and helped Town come away with a point, after Tom Lawrence had put the Rams ahead earlier in the second half.

“We’re pleased with the way we responded from Wednesday night. I was proud of the players today, I thought we played with a real intensity and energy against a very good Derby team,” Danny explained.

“I thought we were the better team and then you concede a 30-yarder that goes into the top corner. At that moment, we could have gone under, but we didn’t, we stayed resilient in the moment.

“It was great that we came back, great that we come back and showed the substance that we did today. I was really proud of the players for that.”

Following defeat to Cardiff City on Wednesday night, Danny called for a response from his players and was left satisfied with the one he got in the East Midlands on Saturday afternoon.

“I was really proud of the performance today. We were disappointed on Wednesday night. When you lose 3-0 at home, it’s painful for everybody.”

A big part of that response was the effort of Fraizer Campbell throughout the game. A showing of pressing and intensity helped to set the tone for the Terriers from the front.

“I thought he was excellent, Fraizer. He was selfless in his performance; he gave us so much against the ball and he put really aggressive pressure on it.

“He was backed up well by Lewis O’Brien. He did a great job today and carried a goal threat.”

Danny also praised the impact of Harry Toffolo, with his goal rewarding Town for their work throughout the afternoon, as they took a well-deserved point from Pride Park.

“It was a great goal from Toffs. I was pleased for him, pleased for the team and pleased for the supporters because we deserved something today.

“I would say we deserved to win the game in the way we played. We always felt like we had control, in periods of possession we were always in control and we carried a real threat.

“It’s a rollercoaster supporting Huddersfield Town and there’s been a lot of downs for them. We’ve drawn today but I thought they’ve been magnificent since we’ve been here.”
