Huddersfield Town forward Collin Quaner is excited to be part of the action when Town’s Elite Development Team take on Liverpool in the Premier League Cup.

Collin has been out of action since the early stages of the season due to injury.

Following surgery and a steady recovery process, Quaner has been back on the grass with the First Team, something he admits has been a long time coming.

“It’s definitely been a very long time!

“I was focusing on getting back to full fitness, so it feels really good to be back on the grass and get some proper training in.

“It’ll take a bit of adjusting, but that’s purely because my body needs to get used to it again and adapt to being back on a training schedule.”

The 28-year-old will get the opportunity to play some minutes when Town’s Elite Development Team take on Liverpool FC in the group stage of the Premier League Cup.

“I’m looking forward to getting some minutes under my belt against Liverpool.

“The Premier League Cup is high quality football and it’s a great opportunity for me to get involved.

“I enjoy playing with the younger lads, I think they look up to me a bit so it’s great fun and I think the circumstances are going to be brilliant.

“I’ve heard the pitch is very good quality, everything’s set up to have a good game.”

The Premier League Cup is a competition for Under-23 players, although clubs are permitted to play three overage outfielders and an overage goalkeeper if they choose.

Danny Schofield’s side will be after a win on Friday to give them a chance of qualifying to the next round. Their last game in the Cup in was a 2-1 loss to Sunderland – their first loss of the group stages.

Meanwhile opponents Liverpool FC go into the game off the back of a 3-0 defeat to Wigan.

The two sides last met at the John Smith’s Stadium in December, leaving with a point each after a 1-1 draw.

The game will take place at Liverpool FC’s Academy (L33 7ED), kicking off at 7pm. Supporters can attend for FREE!

If you can’t attend the game you’ll be able to follow live match updates on the Academy Twitter @htafcacademy.
