Huddersfield Town forward Danny Ward says the Terriers need to learn from their mistakes and look to put them right next time out following the 3-0 defeat to Cardiff City.

The Terriers were beaten in South Wales following a Kieffer Moore double and a late strike from Bluebirds substitute Robert Glatzel.

Wardy reflected on the encounter and the mistakes Town made which ultimately led to the defeat at the Cardiff City Stadium.

“We created a few half-chances in the first half, a couple I should have done better with, but in the end, we have to recognise that danger (that led to the goals we conceded),” he said.

“We can pass the ball out, we’ve showed we can play some good stuff, but there’s times where we need to use our heads more.

“We need to move on to Saturday now.”

Wardy returned to familiar surroundings for the game having played for the Bluebirds for three years between 2017 and 2020, before re-joining Town in the summer.

Cardiff’s current system is something he knows well from his time in South Wales.

“I’ve played in it so I know how dangerous it can be.

“We didn’t deal with it well enough tonight.”

The game was also the forward’s first Sky Bet Championship start and full game played since returning to the Club in the summer, following a hamstring injury that had kept him sidelined for the majority of the season’s opening few months.

Despite his satisfaction at being back on the pitch, Wardy is now determined to help the team get back to winning ways next time out, with the visit of Queens Park Rangers to come for Town on Saturday.

“My fitness feels good, it’s good to get 90 minutes but obviously under the wrong circumstances.

“We have to move on now and focus on Saturday’s game.

“You can’t worry about what’s happened. We’ll sit down, analyse what went wrong and put it right at the weekend.”
