Huddersfield Town Under-17s defender Jeremy Stewart is happy with his development since joining the Club in the summer.

Stewart joined up with Huddersfield Town’s Under-17s group ahead of the 2020/21 season and has since been adjusting to life at the Club, improving his game and learning how to play the Huddersfield Town way.

The hard work showed when the Young Terrier scored the opener against Bradford City last Saturday, helping the Under-17s secure their first win in the Clarets Cup this season.

Speaking to htafc.com, Stewart said he was happy with the performance of the whole team, and that he was able to help them out to get ahead in the first half.

“I thought the team played really well; it was quite a difficult test, so everyone had to rise to the occasion.

“It was a game we knew we had to win, and we all dug in, especially in the last few minutes.

“As a defender it’s always good to keep a clean sheet, and getting a goal was a massive bonus.”

The defender commented on how playing these types of matches are important for the Young Terriers and their development.

“Matches like this help everyone. We’re having back-to-back matches at the minute and it boosts everyone’s fitness and gets everyone sharper.

“The coaches here have also been a huge, huge help in all of our development so far.

“We’ve learnt a lot and had a lot of information to take in in a relatively short space of time, which has started to show on the pitch.”

The youngster was also keen to comment on what he aims to get out of the rest of the season.

“I hope to develop my defensive abilities more and get better at my defending and my positioning.

“Pushing on from Bradford City I can only hope for more game time and to keep on performing and being consistent.

“I think that’s really big for me, to keep getting those opportunities to improve.”

Jeremy and his U17 teammates will be in action on Tuesday (8 December 2020) when they host Fleetwood Town in the Youth Alliance Cup.
