Huddersfield Town Head Coach Carlos Corberán expects to have the same players to choose from ahead of Saturday’s visit of Reading in the Sky Bet Championship.

Carlos also explained that forward Danny Ward is getting closer to a return to training having missed the Terriers' last four games with a hamstring issue.

Speaking during his pre-match press conference ahead of the weekend’s meeting with the Royals, Town’s Head Coach also ruled out the forward for Town’s first game of the New Year.

“At the beginning, the idea was to start his work yesterday, but he couldn’t because he was still feeling the injury a bit,” Carlos explained.

“I hope that he is going to start training on the pitch tomorrow and hopefully in the next week he will be able to start training with the squad.”

Town will also be without the services of Richard Stearman for the clash with the Royals as he also continues his recovery from a hamstring injury.

“We are not close yet with Stearman,” said Carlos.

“As a minimum, we will need one month more and maybe a little bit more than that.

“He is working and is very focused with the medical team, but we know that we are still in the recovery process with him.”

Whilst speaking with the media, Carlos also provided an update on new signing Danny Grant who will be available once international clearance is granted for his move from Bohemian.

“It is a player who is not going to be available just now.

“He has started to make some work, but he’s on a different timetable to the team to try to adapt him to the fitness levels of the group.

“We hope after the Reading game he will be able to train with the group.”

With the trio set to be unavailable for Town’s first match of 2021, Carlos says the Terriers have no new injury concerns from Tuesday’s 2-1 win over Blackburn Rovers, other than the ones that missed that game.

“Fortunately, yes (we will have the same players available).

“Some of the players that didn’t play (against Blackburn) played with the B Team yesterday.

“They all finished that game in a good condition so we will have the same players available against Reading.”
