Five changes to Town’s starting line-up

- Huddersfield Town side named to face Cardiff City
- Head Coach Carlos Corberán makes five changes
- Matty Daly makes first Town start; Danny Ward also in

Head Coach Carlos Corberán has handed Matty Daly a first senior start as one of five changes to Town’s starting line-up for tonight’s Sky Bet Championship game against Cardiff City; 7pm kick-off at the Cardiff City Stadium.

After one goal in nine substitute appearances, the 19-year-old Academy graduate starts in Wales this evening.

Danny Ward also starts his first league game since returning to the Club in the summer and returning from injury at a place he knows well; he scored 13 goals in 69 appearances over three years for the Bluebirds before leaving at the end of last season.

Having missed the last three games due to an isolation period relating to a COVID-19 contact/trace within his household, goalkeeper Ben Hamer also returns tonight.

He is joined in the side by Club Captain Christopher Schindler, who returns after completing the concussion protocol necessary after his bang to the head at Wycombe a week ago.

The final switch sees Demeaco Duhaney return to the side for his first start in three matches.

Richard Stearman misses out altogether tonight with the hamstring injury sustained on Saturday, and unfortunately Juninho Bacuna is also unavailable due to his own slight hamstring issue.

Ryan Schofield, Isaac Mbenza and another former Cardiff man, Fraizer Campbell, are among the substitutes alongside two possible debutants.

Spanish Álex Vallejo makes his first appearance in a match day 18 since joining Town earlier in the season, whilst 17-year-old French midfielder Brahima Diarra is also a substitute for the first time tonight! Kieran Phillips is the player to make way, although he has travelled with the squad.

Lewis O’Brien makes his 50th appearance for the Club in all competitions tonight.

Alongside Juninho Bacuna and Richard Stearman, Carlos Corberán is also without Pipa (hamstring), Tommy Elphick (knee), Alex Pritchard (ankle) and Romoney Crichlow (groin).
