Huddersfield Town Head Coach Carlos Corberán commended his team’s effort and commitment following the 2-0 win over Watford.

A first half Fraizer Campbell strike followed by an Etienne Capoue own goal before the break was enough for the Terriers to claim all three points in the club’s last outing before Christmas.

Speaking after the win at the John Smith’s Stadium, Carlos praised what his team left on the pitch at the John Smith’s Stadium.

“I think the players are responsible of themselves and they are taking a level of commitment that is very important,” he explained.

“It is necessary of all the players that we have at this club and the performance is the result of all the effort by these players.

“Without the effort that these lads put in, it would have been impossible to take something positive from this game today.”

Having gone 2-0 up just after the half-hour mark, Town had to manage the game well in order to complete the job in the remaining two thirds of the encounter.

Town’s Head Coach was impressed with the way his side did that on the way to a fourth successive home league win and a third clean sheet on the bounce at the John Smith’s Stadium.

“I think one of the keys today after we scored two goals was to keep the clean sheet because you know that if you keep it you will take the three points.

“We started the defensive efforts with Campbell who did another amazing effort again, this guy is playing the game again like he’s 20 years old – he’s unbelievable.

“At the same time, the effort of all the players defended very well, in the sides and in the middle. The performance of the team today was really good.”

With that Town’s final game before Christmas, next up is a trip to Oakwell for a Yorkshire derby with Barnsley on Boxing Day.

Carlos says the Terriers will have a short period of time off now to recover from a busy schedule in recent weeks, before quickly turning their focus to the meeting with the Tykes in South Yorkshire.

“We are going to have two days off because we came from a period of days where we never stopped.

“It is the best way to prepare for the next game. The next game is going to be very important but first of all we are going to recover from nine games in 29 days and this was a lot of effort.

“The way the players played this game, they deserve a small break, to prepare well for the next game.”
