Head Coach Carlos Corberán was delighted with the effort his side put in to get back to winning ways with a 2-0 victory against Queens Park Rangers in the Sky Bet Championship.

Carlos’ side reacted superbly to the midweek defeat at Cardiff by picking up all three points with an impressive performance against the Rs at the John Smith’s Stadium.

After the match, Carlos expressed his delight with his players.

“It was very important that we reacted today like we did,” he said.

“It was important to know we were playing against a very good opponent, and to get something today, we had to play with our high mentality, with our high concentration and determination.

“Everything we wanted to get today had to be earned, we needed to create this performance.

“The most important thing for me today was the team to be focused to try to deserve any result we get today.”

The game was Town’s third over the last week and fifth in two weeks since the return to club action after the November international break.

The Spaniard made three changes to his starting XI for the victory and says that to continue to get similar results going forward, it will be a whole squad effort.

“One of the keys of our identity and being consistent is the versatility and the adaptation to play with different types of players.

“We cannot think that we are going to only need 11 players – we need the squad to all have the same idea and to compete in the way we competed today.”

Next up for Town is a second home game in the space of four days when Sheffield Wednesday are the visitors to the John Smith’s Stadium on Tuesday evening.

Carlos says the Terriers are determined to back up the win over QPR during the Yorkshire derby in four days’ time.

“We don’t have a lot of time to recover or enjoy.

“But at the same time, we have only a short period after a defeat to change a result. This is something positive.

“We know this year, that the Championship is totally different. The situation is not easy, but as soon as you process how quickly you need to compete, the faster we do that, the better for us as a team.”
