Matty Daly has today committed his long-term future to Huddersfield Town, putting pen-to-paper on a contract running until the summer of 2023!

The Club will also have the option of extending the deal by a further year, into the 2023/24 season.

The 19-year-old’s previous contract was set to run until the summer of 2021, but the attack-minded central midfielder – who is capped by England up to Under-18 level – has now extended his commitment by a further two years.

Born in Stockport, Matty joined Town’s Academy from Everton at 15 and progressed through the age groups before making his competitive First Team debut as a substitute in the 2018/19 Premier League season.

He has made six substitute appearances for the First Team to date, including four in the Sky Bet Championship last season, and scored his first goal to win the important league game at Charlton Athletic in December 2019.

Huddersfield Town’s Head of Football Operations Leigh Bromby commented:

“This contract clearly demonstrates the Club’s commitment and belief in Matty, but also Matty’s belief in what we are doing and the direction we’re taking.

“I’ve talked about this Club’s belief in young footballers and we are backing Matty to make an impact here.

“Our supporters have seen small glimpses of what Matty can do on the pitch but as someone who has worked with him, I know there is much more to come. He’s an exciting talent who can go on to have a fantastic career with us.”

Head Coach Carlos Corberán added:

“The Academy has worked really hard with Matty after he joined us when he was 15. I know Leigh Bromby has worked with a lot of determination with him for a long-time.

“Our Academy needs players with skills and desire, and I hope that Matty continues growing and fighting for a space in our First Team and can be an example for all the young players at our club.”
