New loan recruit Joel Pereira joins Huddersfield Town with experience of playing in both England and Europe.

Born in Boudevilliers, Switzerland, Joel started career in the Academy of Swiss club Neuchâtel Xamax.

In 2012 he made the switch to Manchester United’s Academy after a success trial period and was part of the Red Devils’ side that won the 2014/15 U21 Development League.

After signing a new contract in the summer of 15, he went out for his first spell of senior football. He was loaned to Sky Bet League 1 club Rochdale. He made his debut against Morecambe and made a big impact, saving a penalty and being named Man of the Match.

Another loan followed in August 2016, this time to Portuguese top-flight side Belenenses and made 10 starts.

He returned to United in January 2017, as their third-choice ‘keeper – and made his debut for the Club in an FA Cup game against Wigan Athletic.

His Premier League debut for Man Utd following in May 2017. He started against Crystal Palace at Old Trafford and kept a clean sheet in a 2-0 win!

In the summer of 2017, he signed a new four-year contract and spent the 2018/19 campaign on loan. The first half of the season was in Portugal with Vitória de Setúba and then second half in Belgium with KV Kortrijk.

Last season he was on loan with Scottish Premiership side Hearts, making 25 starts across three competitions.

Internationally he was capped by Switzerland up to U17 level, before switching his allegiance to Portugal. He’s been capped by them 16 times at U21 level.
