New loan signing Joel Pereira is ready to compete for the number 1 shirt at Huddersfield Town.
Joel, who completed a loan move from Manchester United, has his eyes firmly set on challenging Ben Hamer for a starting role with the Terriers.
In his first interview with the Club, he explained why this move was the right one for him.
“I’m very delighted to be here and looking forward to getting started.
“When I got a phone call about Huddersfield Town, I thought this would be a really good move for myself and for my development. The Championship was a league that I was looking at and I really wanted to be a part of it.
“I think this is a great step for my development and for my future.”
The 24-year-old experienced regular First Team football last season in the Scottish Premiership with Hearts.
He explained how he wants to fight to have a similar experience during the 2020/21 campaign.
“It was good to play regularly last season - as a goalkeeper you want to be playing week in, week out.
“I’m really looking forward to this season. I come here hungry; I want to fight for my place. I have respect for the other goalkeepers that are here already; it’s important to respect each other and that’s how I’ve always worked.
“I’m here to compete. I will give my best each day in training and at the weekend.”
