New Head Coach Carlos Corberán has looked ahead to what will be a “different” pre-season for Huddersfield Town ahead of the 2020/21 campaign.

Prior to the season’s start date of Saturday 12 September 2020, the Terriers, along with the other Sky Bet Championship clubs, will undergo a shorter pre-season period upon their return to training in August.

With the 2019/20 campaign only being completed just over a week ago due to COVID-19, the majority of Town’s First Team squad are currently enjoying a period of rest and recovery at a time when the pre-season schedule would usually be entering its final stages ahead of the season’s kick-off.

The players are due to return to Canalside for pre-season training on Monday 10 August 2020.

Speaking to #HTTV following his appointment as the Club’s new Head Coach, Carlos examined the situation regarding the upcoming pre-season campaign.

“I think for all the clubs this pre-season is going to be a little bit different because it’s not a normal or a typical one,” he said.

“So, we have to try to, first of all, take advantage of every minute we are going to spend with the players.

“Now, it’s a moment for rest, for the majority of the players because we just finished the season.

“(For the) Other players that finished their competition before, now is the moment to start to be ready for the pre-season - they will be back to the Club before.”

In his first interview with the Club, Carlos expressed an excitement to work with his new squad when the pre-season gets underway.

Town’s new Head Coach insists that even though this season’s preparation time will be shorter, the pre-season will be an important period for him to work with his players.

“At the end, what we want to do, is to use, in the best way we can use, the time that we have.

“We know that it is not going to be a long pre-season but at the same time we know that the players are coming to compete from a few weeks ago so they are now going to need the same time to be in good fitness levels to face the games.

“What we will try to do is to use the time to develop the football ideas in the best way that we can do it.”
