AYINA & DIARRA SIGN FIRST PROFESSIONAL CONTRACTS

7 August 2020

French Academy duo commit their futures to Huddersfield Town

- Academy duo sign first professional contracts at Huddersfield Town
- Loick Ayina and Brahima Diarra sign their first pro deals
- Pair commit to the Club until June 2022

Two promising Huddersfield Town Academy players have signed their first professional contracts with the Club this week.

Centre back Loick Ayina and attacking midfielder Brahima Diarra, both 17, have put pen-to-paper on deals that run until the end of June 2022, at which point the Club will have an option on a further year’s extension.

The pair moved to Huddersfield from France in the summer of 2019 and have enjoyed successful first seasons as Young Terriers.

Loick, who is an aggressive defender who plays on the front foot, made 25 appearances for the Under-17 team and broke into the Elite Development Team and Under-19 side at just 16, making seven appearances before the season was curtailed.

Brahima, who plays in an advanced central midfield role, netted seven goals in 26 starts for the Under-17s and made his bow for the older sides, making five appearances for the EDT and Under-19s.

They will now start the season under Jon Worthington with the Under-19 group and have already returned for pre-season training at Canalside.

Huddersfield Town’s Academy Manager Emyr Humphreys commented:

“Signing a first professional contract is a big day for any young footballer and I’d like to congratulate Loick and Brahima. They’ve been outstanding since arriving at the Club from France a year ago and they thoroughly deserve this moment.

“We have high hopes for both players in the coming years. If they continue to put the work into their personal development with our Academy coaches, this Club will grant them the opportunity to shine.

“I’m looking forward to seeing Loick and Brahima take the next steps in their careers.”
